Swelling after disbudding

I had three kids disbudded yesterday and today I noticed that one of my bucklings has a swollen eye on one side. He is also bleeding a little from the horn site on that side. Besides that he’s acting normal. Playing nursing etc. I’m hoping to get him in to the vet tomorrow but has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it serious? Thanks!

  • The only time we've ever had that happen was with our very first kids, which were done by a vet. He used a calf disbudder, which was simply too big, so he got too close to the kid's eye.

Bleeding usually happens because the kid rubbed its head on a wall or something and opened up the wound. It's never been a problem when that happened here. One time it was pretty severe, so we just held the kid with a paper towel on her head and a ice pack under it. She was fine within half an hour or so.
