  • Thanks to both of you! I never even considered insurance...I'm going to look into it.

So glad you talked to the owner. Hope he has insurance that covers this. Do you have insurance on your goats. I do and it is not expensive.Done through my homeowners insurance. Just a thought.
  • What a frightening experience! Sounds like they're okay though. Goats are amazingly resilient animals. We used to have a guard donkey, and one day he grabbed a buck by his front leg and galloped across the pasture with the poor goat hanging from his mouth! When we rescued the buck, he was not putting any weight on the leg at all, so we thought for sure it was broken. I was planning to take him to the U of I vet clinic the next day, but he seemed totally fine by the next morning.

No doubt the neighbor was surprised by the dog's actions -- almost no one thinks their dog is capable of hurting animals, but it happens all the time. We have new neighbors, and they are totally convinced that their dogs wouldn't hurt a flea. But dogs just want to play, and they have no idea that they can hurt animals.
  • Thanks Dianea. Already talked to the owner of the dog who was shocked at the behavior and will keep it away. I did go out and spend some time with our goats and gave them treats. When my husband came home he helped me look them over and as I thought no injury. Later on I saw them relax enough to play with one another. We are new to caring for goats and these are pets. Thanks again!!
