She's withholding

I have a doe that freshened for her 1st time about 3 weeks ago.She has 2 very cute doeling kids and is an amazing mother.I have started to bring her to the milk stand 2 times a day w/o keeping the kids off of her for a period of time. This is mostly for practice for her and me.She dances around alot when I milk and I may need to use some hobbles.Sometimes when I milk her I can tell the kids have just nursed her out as her udder is not so full. But other times I can tell she has milk. But she won't let me milk it out.All I get are little squirts.Soon I want to start putting the kids in a dog crate overnight (or for several night hours) and milk her out in the morning. But I am concerned she will still withhold milk.I am looking for tips and advice for getting her to let down her milk.Or will I have to wait until the kids are weaned and gone?Thank you for advice.

  • Other than practice, patience, and persistence, you can put a warm washcloth on her udder and/or gently massage the udder. That usually makes them let down their milk.
