even though the temps are still in the upper 70s i know that winter is on its way. I have 3 and they get all the bermuda hay they want. i always post my questions when it is the first, ie first time going into winter and the main questions are on grain and minerals. i have slacked off on the grain now that they are around 8 months old. here is the routine, they are in a smallish pen so i let them out for a few hours each and use grain to get them back in the pen for the night and they get about a cup of grain for the 3. is this too much for a first time pregnant doeling. i want to be cautious and not give too much so the kids don't grow too much, but at the same time i need to get them put up in the evening. also, minerals..i've tried 2 kinds and they don't seem to eat them much. will they if they need it or do i need to try to get anther kind. tia

thanks for the link to winter care
A handful of grain between three goats should not be a problem.
Having only three goats, you won't see the minerals go down very fast. They usually don't eat more than an ounce or two a day. With 15 goats in a pen, I have to refill the mineral feeder about every 5-7 days, so if you only have 3, that would mean you'd probably only have to refill about once a month.

I'm heading into dry season here so no grass too, I recently read this article about growing micro fodder, perhaps it would help you too?
