Q Fever

Someone in another forum I'm on brought up Q Fever and was saying that it should be in routine testing for goats. I'm not very familiar with Q Fever, and not many people have responded to that thread in the other forum, so I wanted to ask here. How common is Q Fever in goats? Is there a reason it's not typically mentioned when discussing disease testing? I did Google it, but haven't found much detailed info on it, just general info about what the disease does -- not why or why not livestock owners should test their herds. I will keep looking, though.

  • I have never known anyone -- in person or online -- who's had a goat with Q fever in the 13 years I've had goats and been online. I'm sure they're out there somewhere because it's mentioned in the text books, but it is definitely not common.
