My friends 18 month old is still nursing. She appears pregnant from a breeding over a month ago. Owner is worried developing babies might get too fat- any comments? Wean, don't worry, etc. I don't think the mother of the 18month old was bred. Thx!

My wether nursed his doe for 6 months and she weaned him herself. My other doe weaned her doeling at 4 months. I think the does known when enough is enough :=)
I personally wouldn't worry about it. The pregnant doe isn't getting that much milk, and most of fetal growth happens in the last month. And as she gets more pregnant, it will probably be harder for her to get herself under her mother to nurse. I've had this happen before when I retire a doe. I always try to keep a doeling from her last pregnancy, so she can enjoy retirement with her daughter. They don't nurse much past 18 months.
