Post Freshening Discharge

I had a first-time freshener give birth to twins on April 2. The kids are healthy and great. Mama is eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, allowing kids to nurse, no fever, etc. However, we didn't see her pass her placenta, but are pretty sure she ate it. She was finishing up eating something when we went down to the barn soon after the kids were born. Anyway, everything seems fine with her (we've taken her temp nearly everyday and it's always between 101 and 102) except for a "mucusy" discharge that is still coming out. Not continual, or all the time, but enough to make me wonder if it's normal this far out to still have the discharge. Should I be concerned. Is there something I should be looking for or doing? Thanks in advance!

  • Yes, it's normal. There's still a lot that needs to be cleaned out of the uterus. It will disappear gradually.
