Hi, I'm new to the group. Our family has 2 goats as pets, kids were interested in them so we started our own backyard farm and we are loving it. We do believe our female us pregnant but this being our first round with this, I'm not completely sure. She seems to have all the signs but I've read a lot about people being fooled. Experienced owners, what do you think based on pictures??1485303452350769038624.jpg

This is a good udder:

Teats are not quite perfect -- they point slightly to the side, but otherwise, the udder is very nice. Udders that "hang" are poorly attached.
Teats pointing out is bad genetics. The should always point down. If it's "hanging," that sounds like bad genetics also. A good udder on a FF or a senior doe should be firm, well-attached, and rounded and is usually quite taut just before they freshen.
I just shaved my girls backend area to be able to watch easier, but that one I can see it. I could see her being due mid feb because FF udder doesn't get huge but it should still get like full and tight to the point it looks like it will bust I guess? lol idk I am just basing it off of pictures I have seen. like I think the teats start to point out when they are full. It won't get huge and hang like a goat that has had one before though.
I know how exciting it is to think that you might have baby goats, but you should be hoping that she does NOT give birth any time soon. I'm not seeing much of an udder (if anything), so if she kidded today, she would have a seriously tough time feeding kids. The udder needs to be full of milk to feed kids before she gives birth. In 500 kids I have only have two first fresheners that kidded without a good-sized udder, and it was challenging for a couple of days. I had to supplement with frozen colostrum that I had from other goats or the kids would have died. Since this is your first goat, I really hope she's not due anytime soon because I'm pretty sure you don't have any frozen colostrum. The vulva does not really look swollen to me, so I would be very surprised if she kidded anytime soon.

Nothing in the photos looks convincing, especially if she were to be due in February. I'm not sure what you mean about her mammary system. A goat has one udder with two teats. What is "hanging"? her teats? The udder is the bag that fills with milk and gets quite large. About a month before kidding, it should at least be a firm handful. Loose flesh hanging down at the base of the teats doesn't mean anything. Look at the pictures of the doe in the recent post about being overdue. She has a large udder and puffy vulva. A first freshener might not have an udder that big, but it would be visible when looking at her from the rear, if she were due soon. I'm only seeing teats, although it's hard to get good pictures of black goats, which is why Julianne asked if you could feel her udder.
