New Kid on the Block

We just brought a new doe into our small herd of 3 does and a wether.  We kept them separate for a few hours, but they were able to see and smell each other. Then we put them together and the 'older' goats were a little aggressive to the new girl - but not to the point of hurting her.  When we tucked them in for the night in doors, the new girl was pushed away from the food and stood away from the others looking on.  Can we assume they will figure this out - or is there something else we should be doing?

  • There is always a fair amount of head butting when new goats are introduced. There isn't really anything you can do other than keep an eye on them to make sure that she is able to get her fair share of food. You might need to have multiple feeders.
