Question about my troublesome little doeling Truffle. She is quite long but very narrow. If you look at her from behind next to my older girls she is noticeably way narrower than they are- I will try to take a pic if my desription is fuzzy.
Might she get some width with age, and if not, is this going to be one more strike against her as fr as pushing babies out?

Okay...well it's nice to think there may be hope for her yet. I have a 4.5 month old buckling who seems very small. Although he is a bottle baby so I don't know if he is genetically small or stunted?
Anyway...if the new buck IS big, I will not breed him to Truffle either after all she's been through. Hopefully the little ween will stay tiny and he can do it. If I have to take her out to breed to someone's little buck I will.
Btw just to eyeball her, Truffle does look pretty long, just very narrow.
Does first grow up ... way up! I have some spring doelings that are almost as tall as their mom now! But they do not have much length or width or depth of body. That continues to develop, and many goats continue to grow until they're 3 years old. You may not be able to breed her as a yearling, but she should be heavier and more filled out by the time she is 18 months old, so you can breed her to kid at age 2.
