My family and I are moving from Colorado to Michigan sometime the first of the new year. Any advice on moving a herd of 3 bucks, 6 does. 2 does will be heavy pregnant 3 will be recently bred. We will also be moving 15 chickens, 2 turkey's, 3 cats, 3 dogs and a family of 5. I want to be really prepared. Any advice would be great!
Thanks!!

I've been reading up about having to have the vet checks and stuff like that, but not on hay. I will check into that. I've been reading different blogs on moving cross country. One thing they said, the same as you Deborah, not to take animals out of the trailer! I was just curious if anyone's done this big of a move and if you have suggestions, help etc. our house goes on the market January 1st, so as soon as it sells we are on our way.
Have you checked on what you can bring into different states in regards to hay? When I was looking at taking a horse to Colorado, I could not bring my hay into some of the states.
That's ambitious! Hopefully you have a big trailer! My only advice would be to NOT take the goats out during transport. I know a couple of people who've lost goats at rest areas on long trips. Also, I know someone who set up a temporary pen with cattle panels in a rest area, and a buck tried to jump the panel and broke his leg when he got it caught in the panel. Some get really freaked out when they find themselves in a new place.
