Morning Star's Recovery

I got to ride this horse (Morning Star) a couple weekends ago and it was a blast got to ride up the road. I am thrilled I got to ride her. I am so thrilled because almost 3 years ago Morning Star developed Laminitis. She is almost fully recovered and it just warms my heart that she can be ridden, lunged and let alone be with other horses. She can't be with the younger working horses, but she is with the much older horses, the oldest (Snoopy) tries to run her off which is pretty amazing thinking that he is almost 30 years of age. But anyways she has had an immaculate recovery, thanks to my grandparents friends that are the greatest people I know.

Here's a link that talks about Laminitis:

  • Oh, Sorry to here that, the people that put Morning Star back to health have the same problem, there oldest horse, with dental problems can't keep weight on as well. They have been giving him alfalfa pellets (as what there vet told them) and they water them down,it seems to have given him some of his weight back.

  • That's great! I have a mare with laminitis. She has fully recovered as well, we just have to watch her weight.

Unfortunately my mom's gelding has the opposite problem. We struggle to keep weight on him and he is prone to colic. He has always been that way, but now that he's in his twenties it has become a real challenge.
