Emily, Rose, thanks for the input. Well that is a bummer, they are so darned cute! I am not sure that I can justify having one "just because they are cute" - I have enough animals that are also super high on cuteness:-) And I am not sure I want to have a full size donkey. Well, it was a nice thought while it lasted!
hi judy! no they are not good protection....I have a mini and he was attacked by a stray dog someone dumped on our road. Thankfully the dog didn't do a lot of damage. my mini just kept running to get away while my full size horse went after the dog. I have heard the full size donkeys are the ones to use for the predator control.
I'm not a fan of mini-donkeys. I've met several and they were all mean and VERY loud. If you live near other people they may not be an option because of the noise. I used to work on an animal rescue and their mini-donkey would chase and bite the goats, sheep, and even the people. I know some people really like them though so maybe I just met some bad eggs.
