I was looking at the different types of kelp you all use. For a couple years now I've used a lovely Atlantic kelp from Maine - my goats loved it. And do love it. It is approved for organic growers and is straight kelp.
My feed store got in some Thorvin kelp and I thought I'd do a taste test and bought a bag of both. Put both out and they inhaled the Thorvin over the Atlantic kelp. Thorvin being from Norway I think.
I am wondering - different nutrients in each kelp. Both are straight kelp - nothing added.
What do you think? Alternate? Give both? Mix? The Thorvin is a bit more expensive and each piece is bigger in size than the atlantic kelp.
Love your ideas!

I am feeding SeaLife organic kelp, which is from the waters off the coast of Maine so I suspect it is the same stuff Judy is feeding. I have not seen Thorvin. But my goats love the SeaLife kelp. They snarf the stuff down, and I am refilling the mineral feeder 2-3 times a day. I thought their enthusiasm would eventually wane once they got enough nutrients in to their system. But it has been 2 months, and they love it today as much as when I first gave it to them. If anyone else has info or experience with Thorvin though, I'd like to hear also.
I'm getting my Atlantic kelp through our organic animal feed buying club. Perhaps it is the same source. That is interesting about the Norway kelp. I am wondering what the difference is for them to like one over the other.
That's interesting! I've never had two different ones available around here to be able to try that. With an all natural product like that I'd probably go with the one that they like more.
