It's a boy and a girl

Our first kids were born Thursday night/Friday morning at 1:30 a.m.

Although I had been at a birth once before (helped minimally) this was the first time for our family on our homestead.

At 7:00 am Thursday morning I had a really difficult time finding ligaments but finally found a slight bit.

At 3:00 pm my hubby couldn't find any and asked me to confirm . They were definitely gone.

Thankfully I read Deborah's book and a bunch of posts here MANY times before that day. I knew to have a more experienced goat friend's number in my cell phone.

We needed it because the first one got too cold and lost his suck reflex. Multiple calls to her in the wee hours of the morning and we finally got him nursing.

I go into all the details on our blog if you want to read it  www.onthebanksofsaltcreek.com

It was pretty exciting and fun helping to bring life into this world without being the one in pain :-)
