introduction

Hello...I am Deb Rock, fairly new to forum, of ROCK-FARMS.COM, an RN turned fiber farmer, and now dairy goater! WE have a small farm between De Kalb and Rockford,IL...started with Tennessee Walking Horses, got a few chickens, then exploded! Now have Pygora goats, llamas, alpacas, silk worms, swans ducks,Red Bourbon turkeys, Sebastopol geese, and now NDG's! along with the pets more normal people have. I do goat's milk soap, maple syrup, spin, knit and other yarn things and needle felting, pottery, and glass work in spare time... My husband is a wood worker, ornamental iron worker, and machinery salesman, so we have combined the two lives we live, and are getting ready to go into production of wool combs, carders, and wheels. Love doing all the self sustaining things, and along with a few friends, am looking into starting a homesteading skills school....sleep??? but...I LOVE MY LIFE, and wouldn't change it ! Thanks for listening...enjoy thoses goats!!! Deb

  • Hi. We are in Il, too. Welcome!
  • Yes... I just bought 2 of Calypso's does sired by your Baritone, at least one of them...I plan to milk...my Pygoras provide enough for soap, but Ben and I want to have our own milk... for our consumption also, hence the need for some real milkers. I make our yogurt, want to get into real cheese production, for us, and all the other goodies .

Welcome! Did I read somewhere else that you have two does? What are you planning to do with them?
