In heat means not pregnant?

This morning I was turning out  my goats and the doe and the buck had a little love fest in the barn hallway.  This is the first time I have been sure she was in season, they rubbed on each other and she stood for him to mount her.

I have been seperating her from the boys overnight bcause she was having some vaginal discharge and when I had the vet look at her, she thought it was maybe because she is pastured with the buckling and maybe he is trying to breed her too often and irritating her.

Now she is turned out with the buck and the wether- I tried to seperate them in pasture back when I took her into the vet (a few weeks ago) but she wouldn't have it, and literally ran through the fence to be with them.

I had rather hoped she was pregnant already, but I suppose this means that she is not?  I think I will try to seperate the wether from them during the day because he actually seemed jealous and wanted to butt them both while they were doing it.  If this is her moment then I want them to succeed, the new doe will be coming home any time now and then Penny will be seperated from the boys for good (except for hand breeding)

He is only about 6 mo old and from my angle I could not tell if he did the deed correctly or not.  But she did hunch up after, and I read that means he did do it right?

  • Sounds like she got bred. If the doe arched her back, that means the buck was successful.
