I'm not sure about Johnes, but for CAE, dam-raised kids should not be tested until six months after weaning. A lot of places say they should be six months old, but they are assuming they were raised on a bottle. If you test when maternal antibodies are still in their system you could wind up with a false negative or a false positive.
