How young are they able?

I was wondering, for worrying about separating purposes, how young are the doelings able to breed?  It is finally spring - ish here in Wyoming, we are getting our third pen set up soon, but I just want to make sure I take all precautions I can to prevent any unplanned mistakes..

  • The answer lies somewhere between 2 and 6 months for bucklings. It would be much harder for a buckling to mate an older doe than a doeling their age because they are not really tall enough to breed an adult doe when they are only a couple months old.

For doelings, I've seen three or four does (out of a couple hundred) in heat at 3 months, so it is not at all common for them to come into heat that early, but I have heard of 8 month old doelings giving birth, which is definitely not ideal.
