Homegrown Food Summit

Anyone else out there listening to the Homegrown Food Summit webcasts? It's pretty fun to hear about different folks' efforts to grow foods of all kinds, in so many ways.

Deborah's talk is excellent, of course, organized and full of good information. Even though Willow has had her goats for several months now, it's nice to hear the basics again, so we can compare what we're doing the same, what we're doing differently, and what we still need to educate ourselves about even more.

One speaker who composts everything cautions us to be careful of mulching/composting with animal manure/bedding, unless we're sure it's herbicide-free. I hadn't even thought of this. If their hay and/or bedding is sprayed, then whatever you mulch with it is going to feel the effects. We haven't found organic hay that our goats like yet, but we're still on the prowl!

Thanks for the heads-up about the summit, Deborah! We're loving it.

It's amazing how much I can talk about goats. I do a full-day class on our farm three times a year, and in January, I did a 45-minute talk on copper at a conference.

  • We are enjoying them too! :)

Even though I've read through Deborah's book and use it repeatedly as my reference guide. I still learned several more things from her seminar.  You are a great communicator, Deborah!  I agree with Naomi - it is well organized and full of good information.

My son is starting bees this year and was excited they had a seminar on that as well.

  • I havae enjoyed them this week also.

  • Glad to hear you're enjoying it!
