Hi from Tennessee =]

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I own Wonderland Nigerians. I'm a college student and still live with my parents, so it's really a family affair. I currently have five does and one whether- the whether was the first kid born here, so of course I had to keep him. I also have a boat load of other pets, including horses, dogs, cats, a rabbit, a rat, and two finches. The goats are my absolute favorites, though. They're so much fun to be around and to watch. I currently have a fellow breeder's buck visiting, so I'll hopefully have kids arriving in the fall. I do plan to milk, and hopefully try my hand at cheese making. I have aspirations of owning a full fledged, self-sufficient homestead one day, but I'm content with what I have for now. =)

  • Thank you! I may try to make some goat milk soap. I enjoy making soap, so combining two things I enjoy is probably a good idea. =)

Welcome to the group! You're well on your way to self-sufficiency with the goats! They can provide a lot of delicious cheese, yogurt, buttermilk, and more. We also make soap with our goat milk.
  • Awesome!

Haha, wow, you've got quite an assortment! That must never get boring!

I was just on your page and we have even more in common! Where you talked about God, reading and creative writing - ditto!

We have every time! We've got a yellow cochin bantem(Peachy), a dark brahma bantem(Beth), golden laced something bantem(Mica), 4 speckled sussexes(Wendy, Heather, Abby, and Amy), a quail d'aver bantem(Little Hen or Girl), and then the only rooster is a white black-tailed japanese bantem(Rooster!). And then in the house, we have chicks waiting for the temps to get warmer so they can go outside! We've got some game banties, and some Rhode Island Red Bantems! Soo cute!

I guess we have a lot in common! We're hoping to get chickens soon. We had some ducks, but they went missing in action - I suspect foul play. Really though, I think the coyotes or stray dogs must have gotten them. Hopefully our chickens will have better luck! What kind of chickens do you have?

    Hello Rachel!

Wow! You sound like me! I too am a college student (still living my parents!), though you out number my goats by two! I have 3 does and one wether! I also have horses, dogs, cats - no rabbits, rats or finches - but also my family has sheep and chickens!

    Again, welcome!
