  • Hay should be available all the time for goats that are not on pasture. You should NOT have grain available 24/7 for goats. If they haven't already given themselves diarrhea, there is a very real chance they could wind up with goat polio or enterotoxemia. Also, if the grain is available 24/7, he is probably eating when you are not around. If all three goats are kids this age, they only need about 2 cups of grain total for 24 hours, so a cup of grain in the morning and a cup in the evening for the three of them to eat together. If the other two goats are eating, he'll follow their example, assuming they're not too bossy and he's not too shy.

What does he weigh? Could you post a picture?

  • he has a constant supply of hay and grain around. he is with 2 other goats in a shelter for most of the day until we finish building the fencing.

I assume this is a bottle baby because dam-raised kids are nibbling at foods alongside mom when they are only a few days old. Is he alone, or does he have a goat friend? Can you explain what his surroundings are like? Is he in a pasture? What have you done in terms of offering him food?
