Yes, goats are different than any other animal that i have had.

I lurked on this site and learned all that i could for several years. Wanted to make sure that I knew what I was getting into when i finally got to get my goats.  Well last year I got my babies and this year is my first kidding season. Can't wait for the babies and the milk.

It all started when i developed an autoimmune disease and decided that I needed to eat better and healthier and milk goats were part of my plan as well as a garden and orchard. Oh, and bees are on the list as well.

Anyway, this site has been invaluable with the information and willing members to help.

So there's all that. Now a little about me.  Myself, wife, and 2 children live in the historic downtown of Pocahontas, AR. We are glass artist and potters and live upstairs above our retail store. BlackRiverBeads.com

Have a good day.

  • Love your intro! Have you seen the t-shirt that says, "I'm one goat shy of being a crazy goat lady"?

I totally understand loving your goats. I'm not sure what I'd do without mine.

I also have an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's). About a year ago, I thought I might have to give up the goats, but as it turns out, my homemade goat yogurt is just about the only dairy product I can tolerate. I'm hoping to add aged cheeses to that list at some point.
