Hello! I am new to the group and to goat ownership. In fact, I'm anxiously awaiting to hear if our bid was accepted for the farm we hope to purchase in Gerald, MO. My family currently has a small alpaca herd that we board and horses (also boarded). I'm happy to have found this forum! I'm sure it'll be invaluable over the upcoming months.

The Ozark "Mountains" are beautiful! I know they're technically plateaus, but I grew up calling them mountains. :O) My family is orginally from the Ava area. That's east of West Plains. I think it's breathtaking around there, but I'm biased. LandsofMissouri.com is another good site to find property on. Good luck!

When I was a kid, I desperately wanted out of Missouri--it wasn't exciting enough. :O) Now, I can't imagine living anywhere else. It's a beautiful state with land deals you won't find anywhere else. I love it here.
I do have a healthy respect for tornadoes, but as long as you have a basement, you learn which nights it's best to just hang out down there instead of pushing your luck. If you do decide to make the jump, let me know. Maybe I can answer questions about some of the different areas or help you find a real estate agent.
