I have a doe that I am desperate to breed this year. I have had her for 3 breeding seasons and have only had 1 successful pregnancy. Each year we have put her to a buck at least 3 cycles and the respective recycles. Not driveway breedings but in a pen for her entire cycle and recycle so lots of opertunities for her to conceive. The first year no success, the next year she finally conceived during her 3rd cycle and last year we were again unsuccessful.
I don't know what I can do to increase her fertility. She is 8 years old and I feel I am quickly loosing the opportunity to get a doeling from her. Also her mother is a 7*D and I will have the opertunities to milk test her next year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's the same thing I use, but it's solid. Solids are measured in grams, not ml, which is a liquid measure. Please explain how you're measuring them. You should be weighing them or putting them into capsules with known weights. For example, the size 0 capsule holds 2 grams of copper; the size 1 capsule hold 1 gram. (Capsules have weird sizing. Size 000 is larger than 00, which is larger than size 0, which is larger than size 1.)
I guess I'm confused with what I have for copper. You are not the only person in the last few days to ask me how much I was giving and it doesn't match up. I'm going to try to upload a picture of what I have. I open the capsules and measure it out at a 1ml per 60lbs as directed by my first breeder several years ago.
No problem! If you are talking copper oxide wire particles (COWP) that is measured in grams, not ml. If you meant to say 1 gram, that's not much, so yes, you can give more. We have sulfur in our well water, so I give 1 gram per 20 pounds every 3 months. It is not impossible, although it is hard to overdose on COWP.
I'm sorry you didn't understand me. Sometimes my brain runs faster then my fingers can type. I ment can I give her more then her dose of 1ml every 6 months. Maybe more frequently or a higher dose.
Did you just get the BoSe and copper? I'm not sure what you mean by "extra amount of copper." Have you given her some already? If so, how much and when? No, blood is not an accurate test of copper level.
ok I have a bottle of Bose and copper bolus. I also think they are copper deficient. can I give her an extra amount of copper? I'm not sure how easy it is to overdose on copper. Can I check her copper levels with a blood test?
Copper and selenium are both very important for fertility. We had a LOT of fertility problems before we realized we had an issue with copper deficiency. I even tried using hormones for one doe to get her pregnant, but it didn't work. All the hormone injections in the world won't get a doe pregnant if she's nutritionally deficient. There are a lot of discussions on here about copper, if you search the archives. Selenium is also very important. You could either try a BoSe injection (need a prescription) or free choice selenium, which is available through Caprine Supply.

Or you might continue using the same amount and doing it more often. We give COWP every 3-4 months.
I can weigh it from now on. Maybe that is why I am seeing fishtails at 5 months. I have been measuring it in a syringe and then top dressing a treat.
