Friends have full-size goats with the dad wanting to make and sell cheese. Right now they have two adult does, one that just had a false pregnancy and the other they are starting to dry up. They have either two or three kids (does) coming up as well.
My question is that if the main goal is cheese, would they potentially be better off with NDs because they milk is so much richer. I'm thinking half as much ND milk will make as much cheese as the "regular" goats. Before when they had goats, it was more for their daughters for 4H projects. When I told them about the cream to milk ratio Capri has, they were impressed. I did send them the milking chart with ADBA breed averages from 2008. I am asking here before I suggest they consider NDs.
