First freshner kids with quad girls. Yikes.

My first freshner had a baby girl about 1 this afternoon. Her mom always had triplets so I was bummed it was one but mom and baby were healthy, I waited till 5 to make sure there was no more babies coming. I left for my sons game and got a call from my other son saying she was pushing out more babies. Next one was still born and then two more, for a total of four girls (3 alive). The last was very very small but she is nursing and walking (kinda). I am nervous she won't have enough milk to feed them all and right now she is kinda ignoring them.

  • Kids generally double their weight by 1-2 weeks. She is on track for double by two weeks, so that's pretty good. Keep trying! You're headed in the right direction.

Thanks for all the help. My littlest doe weighed 1.8 lbs at birth. She's 4 days now and 1.13. Growing but not as fast as I would like. She will nurse forever but I don't think she can suck very hard. She so far can't figure out the bottle but she had to get it eventually.

  • Lucky you on 3 doelings! I had a buck year with 5 bucks and 1 doe from 3 different does!
  • I'm sorry you lost one, but that's wonderful that you have 3 baby girls now! I can't wait to see pictures!

  • Wow! In spite of the still birth, you  hit the kidding lottery by getting 3 does. Congratulations! Sounds like your FF is a heckuva doe.

  • sorry and congrats. hope the others do well.

  • Congratulations on those babies! There are not too many first fresheners that can adequately feed three kids, and if one is really small, you should probably just bottlefeed it. Otherwise, the big kids will be pushing her out of the way all the time, and she won't last more than a couple of days.

Sounds like the second kid had been dead for awhile. Kids do a lot to get themselves into position and born, and if one has died in utero, it tends to cause problems. The weirdest birthing position we ever had here was a ribs first presentation, and it was a kid that had been dead long enough that the skin was tearing when I pulled it. So, if there was anything in the back of your head wondering if you could have saved number two -- don't worry about it.
