Feeding a Single Goat

Recently, Beauty has been pushed away from the food by her fellow goats. Being smaller and less defensive, she just simply cries out for human help. So I have begun making a seperate pile for her. The problem is, she always finishs faster than everyone else. It has been so long since I've feed a single goat.

So my question is....how much hay does one goat need?

  • Yes it can vary! I feed my goats a flake in the morning and night, but these are HUGE flakes compared to the flake and half they got a couples years ago!

I am almost wondering if I ought to just led her eat with Czarina while I do chores, but my dad says in dangerous to have such a big animal with a little one. :( I'll just have to experiment!
  • That's a good question! Last fall, I had to separate a goat because she had a funky rash on her udder, so I put her by herself just in case it was something contagious. Anyway, I gave her a flake in the morning and the evening, and she got fat! Now, after talking to one of my hay suppliers, I've learned that a "flake" can vary from 1/10 to 1/15 of a bale, so who knows how much I was feeding her!
