Does doe go out of heat after breeding successfully?

One of my girls was in heat this am and I brought her to her chosen boy. Bred 3 x and she was done! No more interest, no more anything all day. Seemed really very at ease and relaxed - this is the queen- she is rarely relaxed. But it seemed to happen- this doe and my last one- right after 3rd breeding. Does it work that way? This was early in her cycle- If she shows heat signs tomorrow- will breed her again but curious! Does their body know when "success" has happened?

  • No. It's just a coincidence. I leave does with the buck until they're not in heat any more, and it varies from a few hours to a whole day. And they are only in heat for 24-48 hours anyway, so it ends pretty quickly.
