doeling with thin facial hair

This seems so strange, but I have a 3 week old doeling who's face seems to be growing faster than her hair is filling in!  She is mostly white, and the hair seems to be so fine over her eyes and down her nose that (I think) she's even getting a bit pink from the sun on those spots :(  The skin looks healthy (aside from getting a bit pink), and there is actually very fine white hair where it looks bald, it's just baby fine and super thin.  Any thoughts on this?  Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this?  Does this commonly happen with white haired babies?  Should I put some baby sunscreen on her face?

  • No, to all of those questions.  Though I have seen many of them - dams and kids - digging into the loose minerals right now.  I guess I'll just keep an eye on her.  Thanks :)

  • I have never seen that before in a kid. If I see it in an adult, it is usually due to copper deficiency. Does the dam have any symptoms of copper deficiency? (fish tail, losing hair on face, faded coat color, failure to shed winter coat) Do you have sulfur or iron in your water? Are you within 20-30 miles of a coal-fired power plant? Do you feed brewer's grain?
