Hi Everyone:
As I sit in bed very sick with flu or bad cold that I got from my husband - it made me realize that aside from my helpers who wonderfully - have spelled me during the last couple days of being sick - I hadn't given much thought as to what would happen to my goats should I die suddenly.
What have you done? My husband has neither the interest nor the time to care for them. I'd love your ideas. My dogs are in my will to go to certain people but 12 goats is a challenge.
Just the type of pondering you do when you have fevers....

Funny you should ask! I had actually never given this any thought until very recently. I am having problems with nodules on my thyroid, and I'm scheduled for a biopsy next Thursday. Although thyroid cancer has the best prognosis of any cancer out there, it still makes you think about ... what if?
Other than the fact that I'm only 50 and have always been in great health, my daughters always loved the goats as much as I did as long as they lived at home. Both of them even owned some of the goats. However, my oldest is now an electrical engineer in Texas, and my youngest is a senior in chemistry at U of IL and will be heading to grad school to get her PhD in the fall, so neither of them is in a position to take the goats. And I have about 35! I know my husband would take care of them, but he works full time, so I don't think he'd be able to do it for very long. I'm afraid the whole herd would just be sold.
