Disbudding-again

My kids are eight weeks old and were disbudded at nine days old. I did the two bucklings first, so of course I did the poorest job on them. A few weeks later, I noticed little bumps and thought I would need to redo the disbudding but then one buckling knocked his bump off and now looks fine. So I assumed that would also happen with the other buckling. Foolish me. To compound the issue I am about to describe, the second buckling has a black poll, so his bump has not been so noticeable. Until, that is, we were playing with him two nights ago and I realized he has a scur? horn? One one is that is slightly larger than a Hershey's kiss. Larger at the bottom then at the top like a kiss as well. Am I stuck with a one horned buck or can I re-burn at this late date? Any suggestions welcomed!

  • Last year I talked to a Nubian breeder who routinely reburns bucks when the scab falls off if she finds anything sticking up. I'm planning to start doing that this year, but I haven't yet. My mini mancha kids are just starting to lose their scabs, so we might even be doing one this weekend.

  • I think that was supposed to say "one that is"
