Camera's and/or Alarms for Barn

Does anybody have experience with Alarms for there barn? We have a metal barn and concerned about breakins?

 

Also, is there any particular Camera system that you use for a metal barn? I need one for kidding time and would really like to watch on TV or Computer.

Thanks. We are hoping to have babies in October. We have four doe's in with our buck and we have decided to pen breed for two months. So surely there will be some babies. Two for sure have been in heat and he has been interested. The other two not evident so far.

Every time Sam's Club has security systems, I look at them, but I haven't bought one yet. They're usually a few hundred dollars. For kidding, I've continued to use the cheapest baby monitor that they have at Wal-Mart -- $15 -- and it works fine with the metal barn. We place it where there won't be any metal between the monitor and the house -- like in the window or the doorway. It picks up the sound fine, even from 60 feet away from the goats. You don't get the whole picture with a baby monitor, but it's better than nothing, and we haven't missed any births. I have a couple does that don't make a sound until the head is coming out, so we've had a few where we come running in after the first kid is out.

They do sell "barn cams" online for a few hundred dollars. Don't remember the last place I saw one, and the one for metal barns is about $100 more than for wood barns.
