Little off topic but.... Anybody know if left over whey is a good source of calcium? I am thinking it could be a foliar spray for dealing with blossom end rot if so.

Rachel, I had the same problem, lots of info for whey powder, and lots for whey supplements, but nothing on the real stuff. I know it can be a good fertilizer and I understand it's high in acid, but don't know if it would help with the calcium deficiency. I'll try it (diluted) on a couple expendable Zucs and see what happens. They can't do any worse then they are now.

A farmer in Missouri was putting skimmed milk on his hay fields, and it made really excellent fertilizer. Not sure if I'd use it as a foliar spray.
