Will a buck still try to breed a doe when she is pregnant? And will a doe who is bred still "flirt" with a buck (but not stand for him)? This has been going on in my little herd, although the buck is only half-heartedly trying to get some action, like he knows it's pointless. One of my does, though, will squat and pee and even occasionally rub on him...then run off. And I'm nearly positive she's bred. No, they aren't penned together but I let them all out together under supervision today because I think I have "scyther's elbow" and I wanted them to go get their own lespedeza!
Also...why oh why must Mr. Stinky rub all over my legs? Someone could use my "work" pants as a buck rag! Do I just have an overly affectionate buck (he is a really pleasant guy), is he just itchy, or am I allowing him to get away with some improper behavior?

A buck will try to get away with whatever a doe will let him do. It is not very common, but some does will continue to come into heat if they are pregnant. I've only had this happen once, and the doe was driving me crazy. She was being quite the floozy! I had bred her so many times, I thought she was going to kid in September, but then we got quite a surprise when we came home from a 4th of July party!
It's up to you as to whether or not you want to let Mr. Stinky rub on you. I personally can't stand that smell. It is very common for bucks to be so amorous. I really don't understand why anyone would want a bottle-fed buck. The dam raised boys are far too friendly for my taste.
Good luck with your scyther's elbow!
