I am looking to buy this kid, she is one week old and just beautiful. She was born with one of her eyes messed up. The current owner says she does not notice it bothering her and can't tell if she is blind or not. Does seem to have a pupil in it and she does blink. I've tried to research if maybe there was a disease or birth defect among the Nigerian Dwarf's but have not seen anything. My husband is concerned there may be large vet bills later with this. Has anyone heard or had this happen to any of their kids?

No, but her head and jaw is shaped just like her sisters. She seems and looks health, other than the eye.
Do you know what to look for in terms of sound conformation with the jaw and the rest of the head? Could be the angle of the photo, but the head shape looks a little odd to me.
If I didn't want vet bills later, I'd spend some money on a good goat vet before purchase.
Yes, it is always sorta closed. Seems to be open more now than when she was first born, at least that is what they say. She does blink it, it does not seem to bother her. Maybe a little cloudy, just not normal looking. She does still run and jump and play though.
What fascinating stories, and next time warn me that I'm likely to cry. I truly hope this baby will be okay like Linguine. I have hopes since her eye seems to be open more now than when she was first born.
Any ideas or suggestions?
I'm not sure what I'm looking at in the photo. Is her eye always sort of closed? Does it look a little cloudy? The two blind kids we had looked completely normal.
One that was born blind obviously had some other neurological issues. Here is her story:

The other kid wound up blind because of oxygen deprivation at birth:

Were they able to function and live out a normal life. She runs around and plays, so they don't think she is blind in the eye. I only have spent about an hour with her, so I haven't gotten to see her running around. Me and my daughter were too busy loving on her. She is so sweet. I

Oh, that makes sense. Well, we're gonna have to get more anyway. You can't just have one.

Here is a picture of the eye. She is one week old today, that picture was taken 2 days ago. She will be a pet, we would like to get some milk though. Can you not do both? Thank you for looking at this.

Can you explain what you mean by messed up? I've had a couple of blind kids, but they looked normal. Also, are you wanting her as a pet or a milker?
