10 days until due date

Since I've never owned Nigerian Dwarfs before I am not sure if she is pregnant or not. The seller gave me a due date of June 25th.  She is barrel shaped but no udder started yet. She is acting oddly..more quiet, wanting to be near me, laying down a lot. But she is also running like a kid with our small buckling.  She's a fussy eater so I don't think she is fat.  I am thinking she just carries her babies this way.  The seller said she had to bred her three times since she came back into heat after the first two times.  She's been here a month without any signs of heat so I am assuming the best.  Babies in ten days or so.  This is her third kidding.
What do you think?
She's the white one...

Today my non-pregnant "bred" goat stood ever so nicely for the buck. I witnessed the act twice and have left her in with him as they are making nice. I hope it takes as I love baby goats winter, spring , summer or fall! I have marked my calendar for 17 to 21 days to watch what she does then. Time will tell!

  • Hi Jan,
Got any babies yet? An udder? Anything else? I'm really curious!

  • My vote is not pregnant. Third fresheners normally have an udder a month before kidding, so if she's flat where she would have an udder, I seriously doubt she's pregnant. Second reason I think she is not pregnant is because there is a hollow between her ribs and her hips. Pregnant goats fill out that area. They look like a table top until they're within 24 hours of kidding, then the babies drop, and they look hollow there. Many goats don't cycle this time of year, so lack of heat is not an accurate indicator right now. If the goat was bred twice and didn't settle, odds are that she won't get pregnant until something changes. Perhaps she is deficient in selenium or copper? But we can talk about that if you don't see any kids within the next two weeks. To me, she looks like a goat who has lost her girlish figure.
