Well I knew I had rats...I have been poinsoning them for awhile (in the barn).
I woke up the other night, looked at the baby monitor and saw two glowing eyes peering over Penny's back and I thought, omg, she had her baby! Nope...it was a big rat, whcih appeared to be snuggling with my sleeping goat, then scampered off.
Will rats hurt baby goats? I bought traps to go with the poison but so far they have stolen the peanut butter, sprung the trap, and got away. I think they are wise to the bait, they ate it at first but I think now they know it's bad & won't touch it.
Last year Ita had what looked like a bite wound on her teat while she was in milk, which I couldn't say she didn't do it herself because she had a habit of chewing on her own teats for some reason. Will a rat do that!? Yikes!! Wondering how crazy I should go trying to trap these suckers since I have newborns coming any minute now
