Raspberry leaves - Mare Magic

My goats are terrified of the fireworks and I can do nothing about what is going to happen Thurs. night since so much of it will be less than 75-150 feet away.  Last year on the 4th, it went on for over three hours without a full minute between explosions and them trembling the entire time.  I sat there with them all evening with arms around the big girls and Ginger in my lap.  Of course, with one arm broken, I cannot do that this year.  Already with what has been going off, Capri and Summer have been huddling under the hay manger trembling, compressing themselves in less than two square feet.  On the 4th, at dark I am bringing them into the bathroom (plastic and shavings on the floor) to protect them as much as I can.  At least it will be farther away and a little more muffled.  It will be a mess to clean up, but I am very worried about potential heart attacks or strokes.  They are already worse than last year when any are going off.  If I had a van, we'd all go for a drive away from the noise.

My question is about the raspberry supplement (at the above site and available locally); how much should I give them?  I had planned to have a good supply of raspberry vines here for them to eat on the 3rd and 4th, but my broken arm (and little help) has derailed that.  I have a few but not a significant amount.  The youngsters are scared as well but not to the extent of terror that Capri and Summer have.

  • I give raspberry leaves to my does that are within a day or two of kidding, and I just put a handful in the pan and let them eat as much as they want. I figure that if they were walking in the woods, they'd eat as much as they want. I get it from Frontier Herbs, and it's around $15 a pound, which looks cheaper than the brand you linked to.

When I first started reading your post, I was thinking that I'd bring them in the house. Funny how you had the same idea! Maybe play a radio or CD with soothing music for them so they'll hear less of the outside noise?
