More help please....worms/diarrhea

 I've coppered my goats, gave bo-se shots to the adults...and on to another problem....

I have a 13 week old buckling that I got from Texas.  I received him on May 30th.  He was wormed with Cydectin orally before he left.   I noticed about a little over a week ago that his belly was looking roundish but he didn't have diarrhea so I hit him with some Safeguard (what my Vet had recommended).  Then about a week later he wasn't acting normal, had clumpy poo and when I looked at his eyelids they were pale!  Panic!  I wormed him again this time with Ivomec + orally.  I waited a bit and then gave him a GI soother.  That night when I got home from work I gave him some Nutridrench and Probios. The following day he had diarrhea :(   I started treatment then for Cocci (Sulmet) and am still giving Nutridrench, Probios and Immune Booster (Mollys) once a day.  I'm afraid I'm overwhelming his little body with "things" but I'm afraid of losing him so I feel like I'm just throwing anything I can at him.  We don't have a goat Vet locally that I trust...the nearest one is almost 2 hours away.... does anyone have any other suggestions about what I might do (or not do!)? Thanks in advance!

  • Results came back at the Vet on Taser...he had giardia.  Now looking at treating everyone (goats, sheep, dogs, llama etc). Does anyone have any experience with it? It sounds like it's really similar to cocci...and that if an animal is healthy they can deal with it...it's the young, old and sick...

  • I'm so sorry, Tammy, I know how you feel.  We lost a young wether last year and don't know why.  He was special too.  My heart goes out to you...

  • Thanks everyone for your kind words.... I just really felt at a loss not knowing exactly what was wrong with him.  He really was a special boy.

  • I'm so sorry, Tammy! I know how terrible that feels, but you did everything you could given the situation. Hugs!

  • I am so sorry!

  • Oh, Tammy, I am so sorry.  {{{ Tammy }}}

  • I'm so sorry.  We have had a buckling die to and it hurts so bad.  :(

  • Oh, Dear I am so sorry Tammy. Bless your heart I can not imagine how awful you must feel. I know it is so painful.

    *HUGS* & PRAYERS for you my dear!

  • He died last night. I'm just devastated. :(
  • How is he doing now? I'd continue with the sulmet, since you already started it, because you shouldn't stop those things mid-course or you could wind up with drug resistance. Sorry I didn't see this message until today. I think Ning had a hiccup or something on Friday because I didn't get an email about any of the new messages that posted that day!
