Goaty Blessings

It's finally been snowing here in MN, so we have white and cold.  For some reason, though it's sometimes hard to get myself out to do the chores, once I make it out the door, I LOVE doing the chores this time of year.  The barn is relatively cozy, and peaceful.  There's less work to do without kids and milking, so I have time to just enjoy my goat friends.  I love watching them and listening to the crunch of hay as they eat.  I had a hard time making myself come back in today, but my kids do need an education, so I had to force myself since I'm their teacher.

Right now, my human kids are out sledding down the hill, the young bucks right on their heels.  It's so much fun watching them racing up and down together in the snow. :)  It's really a lovely picture, the fuzzy fur balls and human kids in colorful snow pants and coats, landing in a tangled heap at the bottom of the hill.

My youngest daughter doesn't care how much those boys smell, she loves them and hugs them anyway...AND she just came in to see me, and now she smells too.  She has to have barn clothes to wear outside, and heaven forbid she wear that coat to town accidentally!

Merry Christmas, and a happy holiday season, everyone!

  • That is adorable!!  Those girls all deserved that reward.  It's hard for a goat to stand still! :)

  • Children and goats are a blessing, indeed! Thanks for sharing this slice of your life. Our daughters enjoyed an afternoon with their goatie "sisters" walking in the woods today - with parents as well. This was their (goats) reward after spending time posing for the "perfect" Christmas card shot (see attached). It was a mild day here in central NJ. Tomorrow we are forecast to hit 60 degrees! It won't last. We have already had snow.

    Happy holidays to all!
