2year old doe

I have a 2 year old nd doe named Baby. Her mother gave birth to a massive male ( who was born dead) and a teeny little girl who was very small but perfect. Mom's cried for her dead baby but refused to let Baby nurse at all so I milked Cupcake (named by a three year old) and bottle fed Baby. She is very healthy but remains about 2/3 the size of a normal doe. I'm thinking of getting a buck but I'm worried that even though Baby is small in size she would be genetically be carrying normal size (but for her very large) babies. I worry that if the buck ever got out unintentionally and bred my little girl it could be a disaster. So I guess what I'm asking is, should I just skip thinking about getting another buck?

  • Yes, I agree with everything you said. I don't think I've ever heard of a farm that didn't have bucks escaping at some point. That's why we got rid of our LaMancha buck -- after he got in with my ND does twice, I decided he had to go.
