"When I say you should strain the sample, I'm talking about something like a milk filter or coffee filter so that there is no debris on the slide. The only thing you should see is eggs, which makes it much easier to count the eggs.
FYI -- Tammy was…"

"I was actually already planning on getting the McMaster slide! I may even ask the vet for advice on doing fecals when he comes"

"Oh-okay- so basically that just tells you if there are any worms at all present. It does not give you any measurable or quantitative information that can be used for tracking or dewormer effectiveness.
Since you have already invested the money in…"

"I did strain the sample before viewing. I know goats will always have worms, my goat's body condition is showing she is struggling with worms. I used a 28mL flotation to 2Gms feces ratio, I then floated it onto a cover slip. I went up and down the…"

"I did use a 28mL to 2 Gm ratio. I then floated it onto a cover slip and went up and down the slide to count the number of eggs. I just wanted to get a rough number of worm eggs. I know she won't be completely worm free, but her body condition is…"

"Hi Emma
I do see strongyle eggs but that does not mean they are specifically Barber Pole eggs. There are actually several different goat worm eggs that look the same under the microscope. The only way to tell them apart is to send a fecal sample…"

"There is so much debris and so many bubbles in these photos that they're not really helpful. You need to filter the sample before doing the flotation.
I don't recall if this has been discussed, but you are not going to get a sample with 0 eggs…"

"Good afternoon! I recently acquired everything to perform my own fecals. I did one today on Alice. I spotted 7 cocci and roughly 40 eggs that I think are Barberpole. Alice has been in a dry lot for a month and was wormed with Valbazen. I will get a…"

"Hi Emma
Thanks for providing all this info and the pictures.
The kids' FAMACHAs (1&2) look a little pale, so I would consider giving them a dewormer. (3&4) look nice and dark.
Coccidia can also cause anemia, however your kids' coats look very…"

"The first 4 photos are of the kids who received Corid. The last 3 photos are of Madeline and Alice. The last 2 photos are of the same goat, Alice, whose left and right eyelid color was different. The kids weights are 35.2, 32.6, 26.4, and 25.2."

" Here is the instructions I followed for the Corid dosage. This is what they said: "Multiply bodyweight x 0.3 to get the amount of cc's for dose." So my goat who weighs 35.2 lbs would get 11cc's of the diluted Corid solution. I'm working on…"

Deborah Niemann-Boehle replied to Emma's discussion Deworming goats
"I really hope those "other goat owners" told you to use the Corid dosage on the bottle because that's what you use for goats. You don't have to diluate as much as the instructions say, but the amount of the drug going into the goat needs to be the…"

The two buck kids are 5 1\2 months old (Born 1\23\22) and are on a diet of allstock and coastal hay. The two doe kids are a bit younger than the bucks (Born 2\05\22) and are on a diet of allstock, alfalfa pellets,…"
