Question and opinions wanted: Have a Toggenburg that had a breech. I`have my neighbors Nigerian buck on borrow. Breeding him with a little Nigerian. I wanted to breed the Toggenburg with him. How long should I wait til I bred her? She`s in milk right now. Gave her antibiotics and she`s in good health.

  • It was in late December. No complications. It`s drawn us pretty close. Has changed her personality. She`s a lot more approachable. She`s in milk. She follows me around a lot closer when I`m in the yard with her and the rest. It was traumatic in terms of it was a real hard pull. Took two of us. A real trooper of a neighbor that had goats. She was really sad looking at her dead baby. I stayed with her for a couple hours. Wanted me to hold her head. I removed the baby whe she nodded off a couple times. No lacerations. no excess bleeding. She`s a great milker. She took to the milkstand like a champ. I hand milk her she looks back sometimes while munching a gob of goodies.

  • Hi Bruce. I’m not sure I understand the question as related to a breech birth? Was it very traumatic or did she have a laceration or other complication related to the breech presentation? Typically a breech birth itself does not cause concern for timing of the next pregnancy.
How long has it been since she kidded?
