My odd doe Thia gave birth for her first time on June 20th. I have also posted the video of her with the buck 143 days earlier.http://nigeriandwarfgoats.ning.com/video/thia-s-first-breeding

  • That was hard to watch and beautiful at the same time. Thanks so much for sharing! Beautiful babies.

  • Great video! Classic first freshener! I always feel so sorry for them when they're screaming like that. They just have no idea what's happening to them. Most are not nearly as loud the second time around.

  • I'll Just have to hope that next year I get all girls otherwise, I might there's something missing on the first girl I see born ;).

  • That's just not fair!!! I told my doe that she owes big time. I told her that to repay me for the three boys, she needed to have triplet or quad girls this year!! Don't know if that will happen!! LOL

  • Yeah, I know how you feel. My friend got her first buck last year and we were breeding our does to him. She got ALL GIRLS and I got ALL BOYS!!! XD lol

  • Beautiful little guys!! One of my does had triplet bucks!! I loved them to death but I wanted three girls!! LOL

  • Yes I have read that too! Interestingly I used the same diet on both my does when they were pregnant I got two very different(almost opposite) labors and deliveries. Both does got oat mix hay, alfalfa pellets, and Molly's herbals pregnancy tonic. My first doe , Falene had a very easy(and quiet) labor and delivery, and gave birth to her two sons(3.2lbs and 2.8lbs) within SECONDS! of each other and even though it was her first time she took to motherhood like she had done it 100 times before. Thia, on the other hand, had a very long labor... and well... the video tells the rest.  About 18 days before Thia delivered she started to get a bit underweight. So I did increase her ration than, but that's almost two weeks.

  • I've read in multiple places (including on this site) that Nigerian Dwarf pregnant does should not have grain up to 2 weeks before they deliver (then start slow) so the kids don't grow too big and become a serious problem in delivery.

  • Thank you :D! Yeah I'm so glad she gave birth on the early side otherwise she may have had more trouble. I didn't even know Nigerians could have such big babies.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing! When the first buckling's head came out I was like "whoa! That's a big head!"
