I Didn't Wait Long

Zoe kidded about two weeks after I noticed her udder. Her kids were smaller than the other five born here in the last three weeks. She was in with the buck to keep him company until I noticed her udder and did not get a whole lot of grain since I didn't know she was even pregnant!  So..I think I have been feeding my pregnant goats too much and thats why the first five were bigger.

All of the kids are growing and doing well.10603994462?profile=original

Kidding season is over for now. I am thankful.

Here's Whit, born yesterday.10603994281?profile=original

And here's his sister Kali.10603995253?profile=original

  • Congrats on all your kids! =)  I'm not sure if mine is over this spring or not... waiting to see if my oldest doe is settled.  But we are doing year round milking this year, so hopefully I will have more coming in September.
  • Wow, Adrienne! I'm surprised those goats don't have diarrhea! The first time I milked my la mancha this year, I didn't have any alfalfa pellets to mix in, and I wound up giving her 7-8 cups of grain, and she got diarrhea.
  • I forgot to say that they are really cute!!
  • Our girls were getting a 6oz cup of alfalfa pellets, sunflower seeds and grain, and the kids ranged from just under 2lbs to 4.3lbs. A guy called me yesterday to ask about his goats feet and in the course of the conversation he told me that he has been feeding his two goats, male and female... female pregnant a GALLON of grain a day. And the vet told him she'd kid in 7 months not 5... so he is looking at having some really big babies really soon. If she doesn't have problems I will be surprised for sure.
  • Congrats! What beautiful babies!
