  • I have their grain, for when I milk my 4yo, who is in milk now, and has been for a year, she needs freshening. And I have the loose minerals, and add a ts to her grain 2xday. I check their feet daily, and trim once a month or so.
What other preventative measures are routine for them to maintain health, I notice that my 4yo has light dander. No mites or lice, just dander. I have boss, I can add to their grain to add fats for skin health,
What other measures are routine for ND goat health?
  • Hi! Thank you for the add. I was raised with full sized goats, owned by my Grandfather on our farm, I milked 7 goats every day for him as a teen. So I do know quite a bit about them, but now as an adult, I've chosen to raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, due to their high milk fat, and small size that fits well in the 5 acres I've inherited. So now is the time to learn all the things I missed as a teen growing up. I have two does, one 4yo, and one just 10mos. They are both in with the buck now to be bred.
I'm hearing about dewormers, and controlling parasites. My grandfather never had any issue with them. Is this something that must be done on a schedule to prevent them being an issue? I'd rather use preventative measures then try to handle an infestation if it comes. We had only 7 does in a two acre field, so perhaps there was not too many animals, to cause parasites?
