Hello all,

Thank you for the warm welcome. I found this site as I have been doing some research on Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I currently reside in Alaska, and have 2.6 acres of wooded property with lots of grass/weeds. The property is very steep with lots of sporadic rocks/bolders. My little one (Ava) is 2.5 years old and is a complete animal lover. She can't get enough of our two cats, our dog, 6 fish and especially our 3 chickens whom she herds better than a cattle dog. Her absolute favorite thing at the 4-H this year were the goats. We are expecting a new baby in March, and I have hoped of two baby goats in which to raise together with my daughter starting very soon after the birth of the little one to provide her with her own little babies to care for. I found this site as I am attempting to absorb as much information as I can to be a responsible parent for the goats, and so that I can make sure and provide them with a safe and comfortable environment. I ordered the guide written by Storey, which was invaluable in the learning and raising of chickens, and I hope for the same with goats. Thanks for getting this site going. I have enjoyed the blogs, information, and especially the funny videos!

Sounds exciting! I got a buck from Suzanne Nevada at Silver Aurora. She has some really great goats and is always happy to talk goats.
