Janie;

Thank you for the welcome, I am very new to this, so I will have alot of questions!!!

First one, should I join both AGS and ANDDA and do I register my farm name first, before registering my 3 new doelings?

Thank you for the welcome to the group. I enjoy reading the round about discussions.  I have 2 7 year old beautiful girls that I have not breed my goats and they aren’t for milking.  They are just spoiled loved pets that are buddies eith my 2 mini donkeys. One of my goats goes through a false pregnancy and her udders fill up. They go back down until two years ago. So this year the vet said you have to milk her. This has been for a couple of months now and I need the best advise to help get her to stop producing and dry up. I stopped giving her goat chow or any grain. I milk her every other day and get 2 cups each time.  So any advice will be great.  Thank you

Thank you, we are glad to be a part of a goat owning community and have access to advice and knowledge from other goat owners.  We only have four goats a Nigerian Pygmy (origins and age unknown) and her 2 kids (9 months old) who are half fainter, and our fourth goat is full fainter with an has an amazing personality (4 months old).

Ok...does anybody know of anybody who is trying to breed Nigerians for worm resistance. I am eager to get some of these little fellows for fun(grandchildren!) but have a direction I want to move so am moving slowly. Any genuine knowledge of efforts in this direction would be appreciated. Thanks for comments!

nThanks for the welcome Janie!

I am a beekeeper who breeds queen bees for mite resistance. These have been inspected by the USDA and have confirmed low mite levels after 10 years of no mite treatment. Why am I saying this? I used to have goats for pets-which I loved. "Goat-ee" would follow me in my walks throgh the woods like a dog, and sit down besides me when I would stop. I do want Nigerian Dwarfs but I want to look at potentially breeding for worm/disease resistance along with milk production. I have a small farm here in North Alabama.

Thank you for adding me! I am looking for a breeder in Ontario Canada. Is there a good way to go about finding one here? Thanks!

Thank you, Janie.  I have so much to learn about keeping my goats healthy and content.  I adopted a Nubian doe from our local humane society not knowing she was pregnant. Surprise! There was a lot to learn - fast.  I now have my doe and a 5 month old youngster.  I am turning to the group for help and shared information as well learning from your experiences.
