Cutting back

Posted on June 10, 2014 at 9:47am 1 Comment

Recently a friend asked how much I feed my goats and how often. Well as of Monday I have cut back from twice a day to only am feeding. They have all the second cut they want and fresh water, minerals and baking soda . We built a 3 sided shelter for them as well, I now lock them out of the barn durning the day. This really will help to keep the barn cleaner longer. Hope this doesn't sound cruel . Curious to know what other people do.

Today my husband and I had to put our beautiful Moose to sleep. The vet had no idea why he got sick and to find out is apparently expensive. So while I was holding him the vet put him down. Very emotional for the both of us. …

Is their something I can use to wrap his knee with or some other type of remedy ? I keep washing it with warm water and then he's fine for a little while, then he hit's it on something and does it all over again.. Help

You are probably better equipped to answer that question than me. You know what you have in terms of housing and pasture. Bio-security is always a concern when bringing in new animals. If you want to chat about it more, you should post in the forum. I'm sure others would be happy to share their experiences.

This is a small pen I use mostly in the winter, the shed is for daytime use. It is very difficult to clean out as it is not very tall & has no big door.  They are in the barn every night, we have coyotes & I would hate for them to be tortured in that small shed!  The hay feeder my DH made. It would fit nice under your awesome roofed structure for your hay bag! Right now I only have the 3. I am expecting April 27 for Jane to kid. Anne just kidded 2 weeks early & I lost all 3. Such a tragedy!

Hello Lyn, thank-you for your comments on Bandit, Abby and Jazzy, I left my reply to you on their photo pages, but wasn't sure you got them.  I'm still trying to figure out the format of this forum.  I really enjoy your pictures, lovely place and goats you have too.
